Feeling a little congested? This super easy shower hack will work wonders

Orlaith Condon

It’s that time of year.

Is it just us or is everyone coming down with something at the moment?

It’s the time of year when we say goodbye to the sunshine and hello to cooler temperatures and, unfortunately, rain.

And with that drastic change comes a lot of sniffing and coughing. Yes, chances are you’re already surrounded by people who are a little under the weather, if not right there with them.

And while you might be tempted to hit the pharmacy and stock up on over-the-counter solutions, there are plenty of things you can do at home that are a lot more natural and can work just as well.

We’re currently dreaming about enjoying this natural relief for the senses this evening thanks to Kathryn from GoingZeroWaste.

Aromatic showers are things most of us would assume would be exclusively available in spas, however, turns out you can create your own from the comfort of your own home rather simply and at a very low cost.

While hot showers are known to be great when you’re feeling a little bunged up, adding one simple extra can work wonders.

All you need is a bouquet of eucalyptus and some twine to create the perfectly steamy saviour.

Tying the eucalyptus to the shower head will infuse the steam with a fresh scent that will help clear your airway as well as work as a destresser.

Ensure the water from the shower head is not running down through the branches but away from them and there you have your own at-home spa.

And what’s even better is that the eucalyptus should be good to leave in the shower for up to a month so long after your congestion has cleared up, you can enjoy the destressing scent and calming vibes of your home spa.
