Megan Roantree

Good news mamas – a new study has found that having a more generously-proprtioned rear is good for your health and your brain.

Before it was a favoured look among women, many of us ladies with bigger bums probably resented it quite a bit. But then the likes of the curvy Kardashians came along and it quickly became the sought after body type. However, there is more to having a big bum than being en vogue at the moment, as a new study has found that it is also very good for your health and your brain.

The study in the International Journal of Obesity found that those with larger bottoms were more resistant to chronic illness. Population studies show that the mass associated with a protective lipid and glucose profile, as well as a decrease in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.

It’s not just your health that benefits from bigs bums but your brain too. Increased intelligence is said to be because of the amount of Omega 3 fats required to get a big bum in the first place. Lead researcher Konstantinos Manolopoulos explains:

”Body fat distribution is a major determinant of metabolic health and gluteofemoral adipose tissue exerts specific functional properties that are associated with an improved metabolic and cardiovascular risk profile.”
He added that the findings were specific to weight around the bum and hips and thigh area and that a lot of weight in areas such as the stomach is not associated with good health.
So there you go, just another reason to shake that big booty with pride.
