Have fun, get active and raise funds for a great cause, this month

Autumn is the perfect time of year to get moving and set yourself an active challenge. If you would like to raise money for a good cause while you're at it, we've got just the thing. The Great Pink Run is back and it's the ultimate way to get moving this autumn. Enlist a pal, or get the whole family involved to help raise money for a very worthy cause. This year's Great Pink Run, takes place on the weekend of October 16th and October 17th. Sponsored by Glanbia and the Joe Duffy Group, the fun event will unite people all over the world virtually, challenging participants to walk, jog or run a distance of their choosing in aid of Breast Cancer Ireland. This year, the aim of the event is to 'turn the globe pink', by challenging participants to complete a joint distance of 40,700 km (which is the circumference of the globe) over the course of the weekend. Every km counts to hit this incredible milestone, so join in and challenge yourself to walk, jog or run whatever distance you choose. Even 5 km could make a huge difference!

It really is that simple to get involved, and there's no better reason to get active over the coming weeks. Amanda Benham, a 35-year-old mother of three from Dublin is one of many Irish women taking part in this year's Great Pink Run. In March 2020, when she was six-months pregnant, Amanda found a lump on her breast. After her daughter was born she was diagnosed with Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). After finishing her treatment, tests revealed the the good news that Amanda had responded well to treatment and the scans were clear. It's thanks to essential education and awareness programmes run by Breast Cancer Ireland that Amanda can share her story and provide reassurance to other Irish women with a similar breast cancer diagnoses. Taking part in The Great Pink Run will raise funds to help Breast Cancer Ireland continue their pioneering research and awareness programmes nationally and help spread awareness of the symptoms of breast cancer, like the ones shown below.
