This guy found a great way to help his girlfriend deal with depression

So simple but so effective.

So simple but so effective.

Helping others to deal with their anxiety or depression can be tough because you can never fully understand what the other person is going through. All you can do is try to help out in the best way you can and be there for them whenever they need it.

One Reddit user, bodaveez, wanted to go a step further to help his girlfriend who suffers from depression and anxiety. It consisted of a jar with lollypop sticks with different things written on them. He had seen the idea somewhere and adapted it to suit his girlfriend.

The sticks were broken down into four categories, quotes, reminders, things to help relax and blank sticks. The quotes were inspirational and well known. For instance, he used a quote from Francis Quarles, “my mind’s my kingdom”.

The reminders were little notes to remind her of the good things that were positive, with examples such as, “You are worth it”, “You’re beautiful”, “I love you” and “Don’t be afraid to ask for help”.

For the blank sticks, he instructed her to write down memories or something she enjoyed and put them back in the jar. He explained, “I put a fine tipped sharpie in there with the blank ones so she records moments when she’s the happiest and then she can pull one of those later when she needs it.”

Here’s how it turned out.
