More than 3,000 brave gentlemen will see their doctor for a scheduled vasectomy today as part of a mass campaign to get more men involved in family planning.
World Vasectomy Day was started to encourage men to take control of their own fertility, particularly in parts of the world where access to contraceptives is limited.
A total of 750 doctors in 25 countries will carry out the ‘vasectomy-athon’ with discounted rates offered to make The Snip that bit more attractive.
Performed under a local anaesthetic, the procedure involves cutting the tubes which carry sperm from the testicles.
Campaign co-founder Doug Stein, who has performed an eye-watering 30,000 vasectomies, said: “It seems to be a wonderful option for men who have had as many children as they want.”
Lucky boys who get an appointment in New York will even walk away with a cool ‘Get Whacked for Wildlife” t-shirt made especially for the big day by the Centre for Biological Diversity …
