The healing, nourishing and health-boosting properties of breast milk are already legendary, but one soap maker is offering new mums a novel way to enjoy it.
Post Pennsylvania Mum Tina Anker 14 ounces of your pumped milk and she’ll whip you up a batch of breast milk soaps.
Tina’s recipe combines the breast milk with coconut, olive, castor palm and soybean oils as well as cocoa butter, which gives it a mild chocolate scent.
While there is little research as to the effectiveness of topically applied breast milk, many fans claim the antibodies it contains have the power to heal burns and dry skin and soothe eczema and psoriasis.
Some even believe it can be used to cure eye and ear infections and cracked nipples.
Tina says: “After receiving your milk, it will take five weeks for you to get the finished product back. I prefer to wait five weeks as it gives the soap a longer cure time and provides you with a harder, longer lasting bar.”
At €54 it’s not cheap, but fourteen ounces of breast milk does make 10 bars of soap and she also uses goats milk if you’re squeamish.
