Can we all just take a moment to swoon over that adorable name… While watching the match, little Clara spotted a female referee, Melissa Burgin, and dad heard her say, “Her hair is like mine, can I be a referee?” Through a tweet posted by dad, we learned that Clara loves going to these matches and that the referees are her favourite because she loves the colour black.Ready for the match @TheGarforthTown pic.twitter.com/mJ8aVTYqUn

“She had a great day, she loves going to the football, mainly because she gets chips, but she had to make do with a sausage sandwich as Garforth don’t do chips.”Well we’re sure the ref made up for that too! Not only is this ref a woman who carried on in sports (something many teens feel pressured to give up) but she gave Clara a very warm smile and giggle when hearing her comment. Witnessing a woman on the field has clearly had a powerful effect on little Clara… all she wants to be is a ref! And people are delighted.
Love this ? Yes she can... Become anything you set your mind on!!! #thisgirlcan

Shows that we can't just tell kids they can be whatever they want, they have to see it. And they can't see it if it's not already happening.
