When you think of Lorraine Kelly, the last thing you think of is a nervous person.

The 58-year-old presenter has been on the air for over three decades and always comes across as being bubbly and full of confidence.

Kelly has recently revealed on her chat show that the one thing she really struggled with during menopause was anxiety.

She candidly opened up about what she did to combat the overwhelming feeling of anxiousness.

Speaking about her new series Work It Out, Kelly explained that she found exercise the key to getting rid of any feeling of nervousness she was experiencing.

The TV host who recently dropped three dress sizes said that working out was not just great for her physically but mentally.

“Like so many people, I found excuses not to commit to a regular exercise routine. But after finding exercise that I really enjoy, and going to classes regularly, I feel better not only physically but mentally too.”

The show’s medical expert Dr Hilary, praised Lorraine for speaking about mental health as it’s a side effect often forgotten about when we think about menopause.

It happens to everyone and I don’t think anyone should feel ashamed in any way.”

I personally think that women’s mental health, whether it be postnatal depression or anxiety caused by menopause, needs to be spoken about more.

It’s an important subject that affects many women of all ages on a regular basis. I’ve met so many mums dealing with depression that I’ve never been to a counsellor or had any medical help as they thought people would think they were overreacting.

Well done to Lorraine on bringing attention to this important issue and helping women feel more comfortable discussing their mental health.
