Minding a sick child? Fever stickers could be a godsend

The ideal alternative to a thermometer.

Anna O'Rourke

Have you heard of these?

Young children are fussy at the best of times, but when they’re sick it’s another story.

The poor things often don’t understand what’s happening and can be quickly become irritable, which is why we’re so intrigued by fever stickers.

They look like colourful kids’ plasters and act to monitor temperature – ideal if your little one is too wriggly to use a normal thermometer, or you don’t want to wake them.

To use one, you simply pop the sticker on your child’s forehead. Depending on the brand, it will light up a certain colour or show a symbol to indicate if the child has a fever (above 38 degrees celcius).

Here’s a review and demonstration from one mum on Youtube.

A sticker can be used up to 48 hours and is sure to be better received by a cranky toddler than an intrusive thermometer.

Are they a little gimmicky? Yes, but anything that cheers a sick child up and gives parents some peace of mind might just be worth it.
