Molly Mae to have surgery after endometriosis diagnosis

Molly-Mae finally got her answer.

Molly-Mae Hague has documented her struggle with extreme period pains over the last year, and finally has an answer she's been looking for. The former Love Island star revealed to her fans that the reason for the pain she's had to deal with is something a lot more serious than imagined. Molly-Mae has been diagnosed with endometriosis after heading to a private specialist when she felt her concerns weren't being taken seriously by her GP. Once getting her diagnosis, Molly said that she will now need to schedule a keyhole surgery, as a way of reducing, or hopefully stopping the pains entirely. Revealing the news, Molly took to her YouTube channel on Thursday to explain the situation, a place that she very regularly opens up to fans and gets personal with them. She said: "I actually have got to have an operation for something that I want to tell you guys about. It's kind of a good thing and it's kind of a bad thing." "I've told you guys for so long now that I suffer with excruciating periods and so many of you guys were commenting on my videos telling me to check for endometriosis." According to the Endometriosis Association of Ireland, endometriosis is "a common chronic (long-term) inflammatory condition where tissue, similar to the tissue that normally grows inside the uterus, grows outside of the uterus." Explaining her struggle with doctors and being dismissed by some but eventually being seen by a specialist, Molly said: "Straight away they said 'You absolutely do have endometriosis, it's clear as day'. So I guess that's kind of a good thing because at least I know now what it is. "It's not a good thing that I have endometriosis, because obviously it can affect fertility and loads of other things, and you can never really cure it."
