It has long been said that you shouldn’t skip breakfast but a recent study has revealed just how important that first meal can be in terms of your health.
According to The Washington Post, researchers from Yale and the University of Connecticut found that eating
two breakfasts is actually better than having none.
They looked at the effect of breakfast on weight gain among approximately 600 schoolchildren (we’re assuming the same theory can be applied to adults).

It was discovered that the average weight gain in those who had breakfast both at home
and school was the same as the average weight gain among all students.
More importantly, it was found that those who skip the morning meal (or only have it occasionally) were twice as likely to be overweight or obese.
Whilst the experiment did not reveal a concrete theory for this, it is suggested that those who skip breakfast may be more likely to overeat later in the day.
The results were published in
the ‘Pediatric Obesity’ journal
