Study reveals couples who have sex once a week are happiest

Whether you’re doing it likes bunnies in the hope of falling pregnant or have banned it in case you fall pregnant, sex is an important part of a relationship.

And it is a common belief that the more sex people have, the happier they are… but a new study suggests that that’s not necessarily true. (You may or may not want to show this story to your other half.)

Research, conducted by the University of Toronto-Mississagua in Canada, found that couples are at their most happy when they have one night of passion a week.

The findings revealed that the satisfaction levels of couples increase significantly when “sexual frequency” increases to once a week but there is no noticeable benefit when they do it more than that.

Experts looked at data taken at three different stages over the course of a 14-year period involving over 2,000 couples.

Head researcher Dr Amy Muise explained: “Our findings suggest that it’s important to maintain an intimate connection with your partner, but you don’t need to have sex every day as long as you’re maintaining that connection

“Our findings were consistent for men and women, younger and older people, and couples who had been married for a few years or decades.”

The only problem now is getting rid of the kids for this weekly encounter!
