This trick to get a small child to take medicine is absolutely GENIUS

Well done to this clever mama.

Anna O'Rourke

A next-level parenting trick.

Sick children are never easy to deal with. They’re usually cranky, feeling very sorry for themselves and don’t understand quite what’s going on.

All of this means they’re not always very willing to take medicine, especially if they’re smaller, which can be concerning for stressed-out parents.

If you’s rather go a gentler route than forcibly holding open your little one’s mouth to make sure they take it, you’ll love this mum’s clever trick.

Reddit user bsurfn2day shared it on the website this week and it’s simple but genius.

She just held a straw to the back of a soft drink can and got her son to sip.

The straw went into a small bottle of medicine rather than the can and the little boy was none the wiser.

Of course, you couldn’t put the straw directly into the medicine bottle. If you’re trying this out at home, we’d recommend getting the correct amount of medicine and transferring it into another clean bottle via a dropper.

Yes, this will likely only work for smaller (more trusting) kids but as a short term solution to get the job done and put our minds at ease, it’s a winner for us.
