Want To Avoid A Hangover This Festive Season? This Genius Hack Will Save Your Life

Sive O'Brien

Heading out for a few festive beverages tonight, mamas?

Or, even better, staying in and drinking Baileys in your jammies? Anyway, you might want to make sure you don’t feel the effect too hard come tomorrow morning – because, chances are, your kids will have zero sympathy and still be up at the crack of dawn.

Well, scientists at George Mason University say they have found the solution to a hangover and it could not be simpler.

According to their recent study on how to cure the evil effects of just a tad too much booze, “alcohol makes you pee a lot, and that means that not only do you get dehydrated, you drain a lot of important nutrients, chief among them potassium.”

And  guess what contains an awful lot of potassium, ladies? Yep; that’s right. Bananas.

“Alcohol turns the body’s supply of glycogen into glucose and sends it out of the body in the urine. Lack of this energy source is a key part in the feeling of weakness, fatigue, and lack of coordination the next morning,”

If you think your stomach can’t face one in all its natural glory, chuck two in a Nutribullet with some almond milk and sip on that for a couple of hours. Or throw some into a freezer bag and freeze for a couple of hours, take it out and whizz it up in a processor or Bullet and you’ve got the easiest banana ice-cream without having to leave your sofa.
