First, we had cucumbers, then we had Vicks VapoRub, and now yogurt. Ladies, leave your vaginas alone.
Gynaecologists have issued a fresh warning to women about putting natural yoghurt in their vaginas. If cucumbers weren't bad enough, now women are lathering yogurts on their nether regions and it is not good.
Women are using the dairy product to cure thrush. You see yoghurt contains lactobacilli, and while lactobacilli is a bacteria that is good for your vagina and helps to treat yeast infections, the one found in yoghurt is a different strain.
It's been somewhat of a myth for years now, with women believing that if they use natural sugarfree yoghurt that their thrush would go away.
In short, no, no it won't.
You need to go to the chemist and get some medication for it.
According to gynaecologist
Dr Lauren Streicher, women have been soaking tampons in yoghurt and inserting them into their vaginas. Commenting on this practice, she has said:
"Soaking a tampon in yogurt and putting it in your vagina is nothing more than a waste of a perfectly good yogurt."
She went on to say:
"Yes, lactobacilli are good for your vagina, but the strain of lactobacilli in yogurt is not the same strain of lactobacilli that populates a healthy vagina.
Multiple studies have shown that putting yogurt in the vagina does not work."
