12-year-old girl heartbroken after she is denied entry to boxing competition

Melissa Carton

This is just awful.

A twelve-year-old girl from Carlow has been left heartbroken after she was denied entry to a boxing competition which she had been training for.

The little girl was left devastated when she found out she had been disqualified from competing because of one of her other hobbies.

Chloe Black from Tullow Boxing Club was informed when she arrived at the National Stadium that she would not be able to compete in the competition.

The little girl was told that the reason behind her disqualification was due to the fact that she also trained in Muay Thai.

Tullow Boxing Club insists that they were never informed about the rule beforehand and were told that the issue had arisen because someone made a complaint about the 12-year-old’s ability to compete.

The boxing club and many others are disgusted at how the situation was handled and say that it was common knowledge that Chloe competed in both sports so why was this rule only mentioned last minute.

Tullow Boxing Club has since set up a petition to abolish this rule but for Chloe, the damage has already been done as months of training and her dreams have been dashed.
