Jesus.

There are fewer fates worth than death but finding out that your child has spent a load of cash through your iTunes account may just be one of them.

Alright, alright, it might not be that bad – after all, the most damage they usually do is a tenner here and a 20 quid there.

Nothing that’s going to break the bank.

Except in the case of Australian mum Liz and her daughter.

… Because she ended up spending close to €2,000.

Grim.

Liz told women’s website Mamamia that her daughter had asked for her iTunes password.

She gave it to her and within weeks, her daughter had accidentally spent an obscene amount of money purchasing ‘gems’ for her app.

The mum said:

“We had given her the iTunes password and come the end of January, the end of school holidays, we get the American Express bill.

“And my husband finds a $3300-odd iTunes bill charged.”

Genuinely can’t think of anything worse.

Liz went on:

“Basically, because she had the iTunes password, every time it asked her if she wanted to buy more gems, she’d just buy more gems.

“She was racking up like $150 at a time. The transactions had been going on over the entire school holidays.”

Literally horrifying.

The mum went on to say that not once had Apple warned them about the sheer amount of money that was being spent.

In the end, they had no choice but to pay the bill.

Liz’s daughter has not had access to an iPhone or an iPad for quite some time.
