Theresa Hickey began organising the Gold Tie Debs last September.
The event will have accommodations to make the experience more enjoyable for those with autism and sensory issues.
After her daughter attended her debs, Hickey wondered if her son David would be able to do the same.
While he went to a mainstream school, she knew he might not be comfortable going to the ball:
"There was too many barriers blocking his way and I just wanted to remove those and organise the event."
Hickey says that things like music and lights will be lower, which will benefit anyone who struggles with sensory overload.
"It's buffet-style food so when you buy tickets on Eventbrite, you can write down what you want to eat and that's what we're providing," she says.
"You can also bring your own food if you don't want to eat what's there or they don't feel comfortable eating at a hotel."
There will be a visual guide of the venue available to guests before the event, as well as a sensory room provided by The Sensory Pod.
Hickey confirms that there's no strict dress code for guests, and that they only have to wear a suit or a dress if they wish.
The ball will take place on September 8th in the Radisson Blue Hotel in Little Island, Cork.
Prices are €70 per ticket, and €120 for two tickets. There is also a special room rate for those who want to stay at the hotel.
