Well, we're not sure about that last one but you get the idea.
One mum, however, has actually found a pretty simple way to make her own advent calendar for her son using just bubble wrap and a permanent marker.

According to single mum Mel, her son loves bubble wrap so rather than give him the standard chocolate advent calendar that just about everyone is going to be opening up this December, she decided to go ahead and make her own.
And we have to say, it does look fun.
We just don't know if we'd be able to hold off on popping just one bubble per day.
