Parents were left shocked after a video of a baby climbing over a child-proof pool ladder went viral.

The footage, shared by dad Keith Wyman, shows his two-year-old son, Cody, climbing to the top of a child-proof pool ladder that is supposed to stop children from doing that very thing.

In the video, Cody climbs to the top of the ladder using what Keith calls “his best Spiderman impression.”

On the video, he wrote:

“So I’m posting this video after I found my 2 year old Cody trying to climb our pool ladder when it was closed and locked.

“I just got it with the new pool. Tonya and I stress you to watch your kids around pools. I will be buying a new type of ladder!! Kid has some serious upper body strength.”

He really does.

At the end of the video, just as baby Cody makes it to the top of the ladder, mum Tonya comes and removes him.

However, if Tonya had not have been there, there is a very real chance that Cody could have fallen into the water.

“Every parent should watch this,” wrote one person. “Terrifying.”

“Oh my god, this is scary,” said another.

“We need to be very careful,” chipped in another.

Obviously, Cody would not have gotten to the top of the ladder if he was being watched in the garden anyway, regardless of whether the child-proof ladder was locked or not.

However, accidents do happen no matter how carefully you watch your children, so be sure to always double check that the child-proof products you’re buying actually do what they say they do.

In this particular case, it would be most safe to just remove the pool ladder entirely until in use again.
