Steve from Blue’s Clues tells Millennials he never forgot about them

Melissa Carton

We’re not sobbing, you’re sobbing. Ok, we’re all sobbing.

Just about every 90s kid I know watched Blue’s Clues growing up, especially on the days you were let stay home from school for not feeling well.

Running from 1996, the show is a staple of many of our childhood memories, as is Steve, the show’s host until 2002.

Given that I was in primary school in 1996 and just starting secondary school in 2002, Steve was around for basically my whole childhood, and even after he was replaced, he was always the host I think of when I think of Blue’s Clues.

Recently Steve recorded a message for all the now grown-up fans of the show who watched him over the years and our hearts can’t cope.

In the video Steve addresses his sudden departure from the show and tells fans that he left so he could attend college and pursue some of his other dreams.

He also goes on to say that he is forever grateful to the fans who helped him achieve his dreams and that although many years have passed, he never forgot about them;

“In all that time, it’s just sort of amazing.

I mean we started out with clues and now it’s what?

Student loans, and jobs and families and some of it has been kind of hard, you know?

I know you know.

And I wanted to tell you that I really couldn’t have done all of that without your help.

And in fact all the help that you helped me with when we were younger is still helping me today, right now and that’s super cool.

I guess I just wanted to say that after all these years, I never forgot you…ever.”

I think with all the trials and tribulations we’ve all been through in our adult lives, especially the last two years, we really needed that.

Thanks Steve, we never forgot you either.
