This popular gaming shop has launched a campaign to raise cash for local clubs

This popular gaming shop is working with local clubs across the country to help them raise money.

GameStop has launched exciting trade deals for the summer months, encouraging gamers to trade in their used consoles, games and accessories for cash and to help clubs in their local community.

With traders able to make as much as €30 for an Xbox One controller, I think I may need to have a root at home for a few bits myself.

GameStop will be working with local sports clubs across Ireland and under the Cash for our Club initiative, hope to encourage player ambassadors to carry out gaming trade drives at their club.

The aim of Cash for our Club is to gather up as many unwanted gaming devices as possible to trade in for cash at GameStop.

Not only will the ambassador receive the money to put towards the club, but GameStop will add an additional euro for every item your club trades in. Meaning if you trade in 50 games you’ll get an extra 50 euro on top of the money you’ve raised.

I know many sports and after-school clubs who have found it challenging to raise funds for new kits and equipment so I think this initiative is a great idea.

I live in a house filled with gaming addicts, myself included, so I’m sure we have a few pieces we could part with to help a good cause. Not my GameBoy color though, I’m taking that to the grave.

Those interested in becoming club ambassadors and raising funds for their club can contact their local GameStop for a starter kit and more information.

Cash for our Club will begin on June 13 and finish August 28, which is perfect as the kids aren’t in school so they’ll have plenty of time to fish out those old consoles they never play anymore.

As a parent who is constantly tripping up on wires and game cases, I’m definitely going to use it as an excuse to do a massive clear out.
