Youth Work Ireland launches fundraiser to help rural teens attend Pride events

Melissa Carton

Attending Pride events can be difficult for young people living in rural areas.

Youth Work Ireland has set up an online fundraiser to help solve this problem.

The youth organisation aims to help as many teens as possible attend Pride-related events in 2019.

Many young people living in rural areas have little to no access to LGBT+ clubs and events.

This year, Youth Work Ireland want your help in supporting young people from rural Ireland in getting to Dublin Pride.

All money raised from the fundraiser will support a young person from a rural location attend Dublin Pride on Saturday, June 29.

The organisation recently shared a video called Give the Gift of Pride.

In the video young people from the LGBT+ community shared their experiences of getting to be involved in Pride events and how important it was to them to feel included.

“One thing that made me feel very accepted was seeing all the rainbow flags on buildings or maybe even the small additions to company logos.”

“This acceptance is one of the many reasons I want to go to Pride 2019.”

€30 will bring a young person to Dublin Pride but Youth Work Ireland are asking people to donate whatever they can.

To Give the Gift of Pride this year you can donate through Youth Work Ireland’s website www.youthworkireland.ie.
