Charlie is encouraging the public to get involved in the event.

The line-up for the first Late Late show of 2022 has been revealed.

Charlie Bird is set to make an appearance tonight to launch the #ClimbwithCharlie event, alongside several volunteers who have vowed to join the climb with him – including Vicky Phelan, Mary McAleese, and Baz Ashmawy.

The former RTÉ broadcaster announced his plans to climb Croagh Patrick last year, following a previous appearance on the Late Late Show, when he discussed his Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis.

Charlie is now hoping to inspire members of the public to join him on the climb. The event is set to take place on 2 April and details on how to volunteer will be announced at the launch on Friday night.

On Thursday, host Ryan Tubridy revealed he spent his morning out on a “glorious” climb with Charlie in the Wicklow hills.

Sharing an image of the two taking in the view from the the top of a hill to his Instagram page, he wrote:

“Spent a glorious morning climbing the Wicklow hills with Charlie Bird and friends. We’re on the road to Croagh Patrick with Vicky Phelan and half of Ireland in April. Full details on The Late Late tomorrow night.”

Other guests joining Ryan tonight include comedian Jason Byrne and Leitrim writer and actor Seamus O’Rourke. There’ll also be musical performances from Niamh Sandwich and Irish newcomer Somebody’s Child.

And, get ready for some nostalgia, because Bosco himself is set to make a very special appearance.

Sounds like an unmissable show!

Tune in tonight at 9.35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ player.
