Enchanted sequel: New pictures from the Enniskerry set as filming gets underway

Niamh Maher

We want to live in this world.

Filming on the sequel to Enchanted is officially underway in Enniskerry and it’s fair to say, people are excited. It’s not every day a big-budget Disney epic lands on our doorstep so it’s no wonder that hundreds of people turned out over the weekend to see the Wicklow village transformed. The crowds were out in force to catch a glimpse of the fairytale production as the crew put the finishing touches to the set before filming gets underway today.

Disenchanted is the follow up to the 2007 smash hit, which saw Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey’s worlds collide as live-action met cartoon classic. It’s the stuff of dreams really. Our own Trine Jensen Burke headed out with her family and we, of course, had to share the joy.

It’s understood the cast and crew will be filming between the hours of 7 am and 10 pm from today until Friday and most of the village will be closed on shoot dates. The crew will be back throughout July and the production is expected to feature hundreds of extras throughout the shoot.

The film picks up ten years after the original with the main cast having moved out of New York City and embraced the suburbs as part of their Happily Ever After.

Enniskerry is a beautiful part of the world at the best of times and we can’t wait to see it immortalised in such a magical way.

Also, we’d DIE for a night out at The Royal Sip. Race you there!
