Additional research recorded that of 2,000 adults, 48% believe the treats they gift to young trick-or-treaters were of a high standard.
23% confessed that they handed out treats to children that didn't exactly match the vibe of Halloween (I admit I have probably committed this offence simply because I forgot to purchase ahead of the night).
Thankfully, I don't fall into the next bracket. The study, commissioned by HARIBO, also discovered that close to one in 10 (9%) adults have actually had their treats rejected at the door due to not being up to standard. Yikes.
Learning this makes the next finding very understandable: More than half (56%) have pretended not to be home due to treat supplies dwindling or being empty by the time another knock comes to the door.

It also discovered that children who opted to dress up in classic horror attire, such as witches (14%), zombies (12%) and vampires (11%), earned the best.
While Batman (3%), Disney princesses (2%) and those dressed as Hermione Granger from Harry Potter (1%) didn't see the return in their investment when it came to treats.
One in five (19%) acknowledge the work that children put into dressing up, 44% believe adults should take more notice of the efforts put into their costumes.
The poll documented that 61% of children consider Halloween to be their favourite time of year, with 40% admitting that receiving sweet was the best part of the occasion.
