Mums share the sex positions they were in when they conceived

Any of these work for you?

There are plenty of old wives’ tales but is there anything that really works?

It can feel like you’ll try anything to get the job done when you’re trying to conceive, which is why we’re always so curious to hear what’s worked for others.

Now a number of mums have divulged what exactly worked for them when it came to positions for doing the deed.

A poll of 308 BabyCentre users showed that missionary was the number one position women were in when they got pregnant, with 40 per cent of the votes.

Cowgirl was the second most successful position for conception (20 per cent) followed by doggy (17 per cent).

Rather than be conducive to baby-making, these could just be the most common sex positions in general so we’d take this result with a pinch of salt.

Several mums also shared exactly how they conceived and spared no details.

“Our go-to position, good old doggy! I joked the baby came into the world that way and may even come out that way!”

“Ours was missionary, followed by me with my legs up on the wall!”

“This baby was conceived during a very lazy session of spoon/scissor combo on a night I was extremely ill with tonsillitis.”

“We were spooning. It was the quickest quickie ever because I did the ovulation test that morning and it said peak ovulation! I made him hop to it, and I can assure you it wasn’t very romantic with me constantly reminding him ‘don’t pull out’!”

But does the position you’re in really boost your chances of conceiving?

One fertility expert has said it doesn’t matter in the slightest.

“I’ve heard all sorts of things like women holding their legs in the air and doing the cycling motion with their legs in the air,” said Allan Pacey, a Professor of Andrology at Sheffield University.

“I’ve heard stories if people do it where the woman is kneeling and the man is behind it deposits the sperm slightly differently.

“To be frank I don’t think there is any evidence to suggest one thing is better… the sperm that are going to do their job, they are already in there, they’re pretty quick. In any position.”

Would you agree with him or is there really one position that’s a surefire winner? Let us know!
