“Over the past number of years, we have been gathering feedback to understand how we can improve access to our services for our patients. One thing that comes up frequently in our engagement with patients, is the time input required to attend appointments when undergoing treatment, and the stress this can add for patients. With a large volume of patients travelling to our Cork clinic from Limerick and surrounding counties, the new satellite clinic will enable them to avail of appointments closer to home.”
This is the second satellite clinic opened in response to patient demand, with another clinic located in Carlow to provide easy access for patients in the midlands.
The service in Carlow experienced a 75 per cent increase demand between 2019 and 2020, and is now operational five days per week.
Damien O’Dowd added:
“Our aim is to bring ancillary appointments to our patients where possible. The satellite clinics allow for meaningful integration of treatment into our patients’ already busy lives. By removing the time required to travel, sometimes quite long distances on return trips; we hope to positively facilitate and enhance our patients’ fertility journey.”
