Family-friendly dinners: Mini Meatballs made for kids, by kids

Amanda Cassidy

Meatballs are a firm favourite in our house.

Today’s recipe is brought to you by one of our most inspiring foodie bloggers, Super6me – she is a big believer in setting up the children and allowing them to do it by themselves unless they need her.

This meatball recipe is made by her son George and makes ten golf ball sized meatballs

Ingredients

300g Mince

1 egg

1 Weetabix

1 tsp of onion powder

1 tsp of garlic powder

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp of Basil or Oregano

1 carrot grated

Sauce

1 carton passata

1 pepper finely chopped (or 1/4 bag of frozen peppers)

Salt n Peppa

Instructions:

Wash your hands! Put all the meatballs ingredients in a bowl and mush it all together really well. When mixed, roll it into golf ball sized balls

Brown the meatballs in a frying pan (The adult does this bit) Place them in a casserole dish and pour over the passata. Throw the peppers into the passata and season, then place in the oven at 180C  and bake for 40 mins.

Serve over spaghetti. (The adult in the house can cook the spaghetti)

You are pretty much done.

Kids are happy and with two vegetables snuck into the meatballs parents will be happy.

And you have barely lifted a finger – result!
