These mummy hot dogs are the perfect October family-friendly dinner

Prepare to get asked to make these again (and again).

Trine Jensen-Burke

October is all about Halloween, and we, for one, are pretty much as excited as the kids for this truly lovely (and spooky) time a year.

In between decorating and some seasonal arts and crafts, we also know want to kick the festivities up a notch and serve these seriously cute (and scary) hot dogs for dinner – a meal that is bound to go down a treat in every household right about now, we think.

Note: This recipe calls for crecent rolls, but you can easily use pastry or even a very simple bread/pizza dough to wrap around the hot dogs.

Ingredients

  • 1 (8-ounce) tube crescent rolls
  • 8 hot dogs
  • Mustard (or aioli) for garnish

Directions

Preheat oven to 190 degrees C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat; set aside.

Roll out the crescent rolls into one sheet, placing 2 triangles together by pinching the seams to make a square. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut each rectangle into 6 strips.

Wrap 3 strips around each hot dog, leaving a little space at the top for the “eyes.”

Place into oven and bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes.

Let cool 5 minutes before adding dots of mustard (or aioli) for the “eyes.” Serve immediately.

YUM!
