New mums need to try these lactation cookies

Trine Jensen-Burke

Sure we all know that the nice (and decent) thing to do when visiting a new mum for the first time is to bring some food.

To those of us who have been there ourselves, we know just how much of a bubble those first few weeks after birth are, when you don’t know the difference between night and day anymore, can’t remember the last time you washed your hair and cooking? What cooking?

So bring food, OK? And if the mama in question is breastfeeding her new bundle, we have found the perfect treat to bake, make and bring along. Are you ready?

Lactation cookies.

Yes, really. These are a thing, and packed with ingredients that will get her milk flowing. And not only that, they actually taste pretty yummy too!

Get baking, guys!

1. Banana Chocolate Chip Lactation Muffins

Perfect for all new mums to enjoy with their morning (decaf!) coffee.

2. Lactation Granola Bars

Granola bars are the best grab-and-go food for any new mama. Individually wrap each serving and so she can stash them in her nappy bag for emergencies.

3. Lactation Cookies (Vegan and Gluten-Free)

Let’s be honest here: The very best gift you can give a new mum is a warm batch of cookies. And these, on top of tasting delish will also give her breastmilk a boost, so good for mama, good for baby.
