A little imagination goes a long way

Travel cots are an essential bit of equipment during the first few years. When you need them, you really need them. But once they’ve served their purpose, they’re generally disposed of.

If you don’t have anyone to pass your travel cot onto, or it’s a little too worn and torn to donate, why not transform it into something new? Here are two fun ways to upcycle your old travel cot into something that’ll keep your little one entertained.

Cozy fort

No major construction involved – just grab a scissors to cut the mesh from one side of your travel cot and flip it on its head so it has a roof. Decorate it according to your kid’s preferences.

For a princess feel, throw netting over the top like this blogger did.

You could spruce it up even more by adding fairy lights to the netting. Other kids might prefer a themed blanket from their favourite show or sports team.

Inside either one should be a comfy haven of blankets and pillows.

Ball pit

It doesn’t get any easier than this mama‘s cheap and cheerful idea.

Take out the mobile, buy a bag of play balls and watch your kid relish in excitement at having their very own ball pit. Play balls can bought for just €9 at Smyths.
