This year, Santa has gifted internet users a lesson in consent
One Santa Claus has earned the respect of millions after a now-viral video saw him praise a young girl for setting and honouring her own boundaries.
Three-year-old Adley was taken by her mum, Katie Love, to the Ritz-Carlton in Miami to see the Man in Red.
However, when the little girl said ‘No’ to sitting on his lap, Santa was commended for his noble response.
In the clip, Katie has asked him to repeat what he said to her daughter when she refused to sit on his lap.
“I said, ‘This is her body, and she’s in control of her body,'” Santa recounts, “I asked if she wanted to sit on my lap, and she said, ‘No,’ and I said, ‘Way to stand up for yourself.’
“You can’t let even Santa Claus — if Santa Claus says, ‘Do you want to sit on my lap?’ If you don’t want to, you say, ‘No!'” he added.
Katie uploaded the clip to TikTok with the caption: “This response was 🔥Thank you Santa for respecting my daughter’s choice & even applauding her for it!”

After the video was uploaded, many users took to the comments to praise the Santa, adding that it’s important topic for children and parents to be aware of.
“Maybe we should stop the lap thing altogether who knows who wears those suits,Thank you smart Baby,” one user suggested.
“I just cried. As a child who was uncomfortable with touch and fam who pushed me, this is so good to hear,” another confessed.
“My daughter saw Santa once and didn’t sit in his lap. I love when kids voices are respected,” one parent added.
“We taught our kids the same thing. My daughter is now 20. The grandparents were often offended. Freak them tho. We kept our little girl safe,” a fourth wrote.
We love to see it!
