The online beauty debate around which direction the patches should face has been flooding social media, with some people positioning the pointed end towards their nose and others towards their temples.
According to Ultraceuticals skincare expert Shannon McCreery, the brand recommends placing its Ultra B² Hydrating Eye Masks with the narrowest point facing inwards, towards the inner corner of the eye.
"When it comes to the Ultraceuticals Ultra B² Hydrating Eye Masks, we recommend positioning the narrowest point towards the inner corner of the eye, aligning it with the tear duct. So, pointy end in.
“The mask's curved shape follows the natural contours of the under-eye area, so it sits comfortably against the skin,” Shannon explained.
"While you might see people wearing their eye masks in all sorts of directions online, the most important thing is to follow the instructions for your particular product.
"Different masks can have different shapes and designs, so there isn't necessarily one universal rule."
This specific brand offers 20 pairs of hydrogel patches per tub designed to hydrate, brighten and smooth the delicate under-eye area in just 15 minutes.
To get the most out of your eye masks, Shannon recommends starting with clean, dry skin before gently applying the patches and leaving them on for at least 15 minutes.
Once removed, massage any remaining serum into the skin rather than washing it off, before following up with your usual eye cream.
For an extra-refreshing treatment, you can also store your patches in the fridge before use – perfect for a morning skincare routine.
Infused with Peptide + B² Technology, the Ultraceuticals masks aim to leave the under-eye area looking hydrated, smoother and plumper, making them a handy addition to your skincare routine ahead of a special occasion or whenever your eyes need a little extra attention.
You can shop the Ultraceuticals Ultra B² Hydrating Eye Masks here, priced at €79 for 20 pairs.
