The hot chocolate of our youth was usually an insipid affair made with way too much water and not enough chocolate which is why, ever since, we have been committed to seeking out the richest and most indulgent hot chocolate recipes to go with our afternoon pastry. As if the afternoon pastry wasn’t treat enough.
Cinnamon Spiked Hot Chocolate
Serves 4
Ingredients:
4 cups of milk (or nut milk)
125g dark chocolate
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 tablespoons sugar
Generous pinch of salt
Directions:
1 Heat the milk gently over a medium heat until scalding but be careful to make sure it doesn’t boil over.
2 Add the chocolate, ground cinnamon, sugar and salt and whisk together to melt the chocolate and combine the ingredients thoroughly.
