Dr. Marilyn Glenville, the author of Fat Around The Middle, told Mail Online that this is because they contain organic compounds called sugar alcohols, which can ferment if not digested properly. This, in turn, causes bloating and gas.
That's not to say that these fruits are bad for you or should be avoided - after all, eating your 5 a day is important and the compounds are beneficial - but it might be an idea to avoid them if you're wearing a figure-hugging outfit.
Dr. Glenville also said that vegetables, including the likes of broccoli and cauliflower, can also cause bloating.
