Slimming World has removed its most popular dessert from the ‘syn free’ list

The people of Slimming World are up in arms over some pretty upsetting news. Apparently, the diet plan has removed Muller Light yoghurts from its 'syn free' list. For those of you who don't know, Slimming World has certain 'syn free' foods that basically don't count towards your daily food intake. Or something like that anyway... no expert here. And for people on the diet, Muller Light yoghurts seem to be extremely popular, well, they were anyway. Yesterday, Slimming World members got an email informing them that the treat is no longer considered 'syn free'. The yoghurt pots are now considered to be one syn... and you're allowed 15 per day on the plan. Not the end of the world. You'd think. However, some dieters are pretty crippled by the news, and have taken to Twitter to voice their concerns.

So apparently muller lights have now been changed to 1 syn each on @SlimmingWorld. I can think of nothing worse!!

Muller Lights weren't the only thing to change FYI! Slimming World also changed the following syn counts: Tinned pasta shapes in tomato sauce - all varieties now 0.5 Syns per 100g. Instant mashed potato - all varieties now 3.5 Syns per 100g. Flavoured Danone Activia 0 per cent fat - a 125g pot is 1 Syn. A Slimming World spokesperson said: “Our Nutrition team routinely review our Food Optimising eating plan to ensure it’s up to date, in line with the latest guidance, and to take into account feedback from our 5,000 Consultants and 900,000 Slimming World members. “As part of this process, we’ve been looking at how to give our vegan members more choice, and we’re delighted that a number of vegan foods, including canned jackfruit and plain and unsmoked seitan, can now be enjoyed freely by slimmers following our plan. “In addition, a number of products – fat-free flavoured yogurts, tinned pasta shapes in tomato sauce and instant mashed potato – that were previously Free on our plan, meaning they could be eaten without weighing, counting or measuring, will now have a small Syn value (all food and drink that isn’t Free has a Syn value and members enjoy between five and 15 Syns daily)." "This is because some of these foods are often eaten in large amounts, as a ‘snack’ rather than being enjoyed as part of a meal, or because they’re less satisfying than alternatives, such as mashed potato made with fresh potatoes. As the new Syn values are still so low, Slimming World members can easily still include them within their daily choices, if that's what they choose to do, and fat-free natural yogurts, dried pasta and potatoes will continue to be Free.” God speed, friends.
