Mum sparks debate after revealing controversial Christmas tree hack

Kat O'Connor

Have you taken your Christmas tree down yet?

Christmas may be over, but we’re not ready to say goodbye to the Christmas tree and twinkling lights just yet.

The decorations make our homes feel so much cosier, and if we had our way, we’d keep them up all year long.

Decorating may be a mission, especially if you deck every room of the house out, but it’s one of our favourite traditions.

Standing around the tree and decorating it with the kids has to be one of our favourite Christmas memories.

However, taking all of the decorations off the tree isn’t as fun.

It’s the one job nobody wants to help out with, and we can’t say we blame them.

Taking all of the decorations off the tree is a true sign that Christmas is over for another year, but one mum has come up with a genius hack you may approve of.

A mum has revealed she doesn’t take the decorations off the tree, but simply wraps it up in cling film and stores it in her garage until next December.

She told The Sun: “My tree is always all wrapped up and standing by in my garage.

“I’m a bit of a perfectionist so it normally takes me ages and so this way is better,” she explained.

The mum admitted she has been doing this for around 10 years, but some people were less than impressed with the idea.

She defended her decision and said it has saved her time and also helped protect her decorations.

“When people first see it, they think it’s a bit crazy but when they see me taking it off they’re like ‘right, okay’ because it doesn’t get crushed or anything, I’ve never broken any baubles,” she said.

Would you consider trying this Christmas tree hack or would it take away from the magic of the festive season?
