Mum’s at-home trick for treating eczema will relieve your child’s pain and itching

Sophie Collins

Eczema

Eczema affects around 1 in 5 children and 1 in 10 adults in Ireland

For most kids the skin condition is mild, however, for some the outbreaks can be very uncomfortable and need treatment.

A mum has gone viral on TikTok after sharing her great bath time advice for parents who have kid’s with eczema.

Her method of filling the bath involves using oats to help ease the itch, organic virgin coconut oil for hydration – but you can use whatever natural oil you prefer – and epsom salts as a natural anti-inflammatory.

In the video that has garnered more than 1.7 million views, she fills a sock with half a cup of oats and then places it over the tap, so the water has to run through the oats.

Then she adds in the coconut oil and says the key is to make sure the bath water is lukewarm. Microwave your oil to melt it, and add it to the water.

Finally she adds in one cup of Epsom salts before checking the temperature of the water.

She says she allows her child to bathe in the treated water for 5 to 10 minutes before drying off.

The mum also shared a before and after of her kid’s eczema and the results speak for themselves.
