This incident at her child’s school disco left one mum furious
One mum has opened up about an incident at her four-year-old daughter’s school disco.
The concerned parent explained that she was attending the event at her daughter’s school, but is unsure if she’s being unreasonable in her reaction.
She wrote on Mumsnet:
“I’m at the school disco, surrounded by a bunch of adorable 4-year-olds who are having the time of their lives, dancing away to some catchy tunes. Everything seems great until the DJ decides to shout “SEXAYY” over the speakers.”
The mum admitted she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
“Now, call me old-fashioned, but I couldn’t believe my ears. I mean, what on earth was the DJ thinking?”
She said the disco should have been fun and innocent.
She understood that the DJ was trying to create “a lively atmosphere” but she couldn’t believe he would say something like that in front of a group of children.
“Shouting suggestive phrases like that at a school event with 4-year-olds is just plain ridiculous,” she said.
“Am I being unreasonable to expect better from the DJ? Shouldn’t they be more mindful of the young audience they’re entertaining? Or am I just an old hag?” she asked.
Parents were quick to reassure the mum that she wasn’t being unreasonable whatsoever and the DJ was completely in the wrong.
One parent said, “I’d have had a word with one of the teachers and asked what they thought. On a good day I might go up and say quietly something to the DJ myself.”
“I would inform the staff so he doesn’t get hired again,” one parent added.
