7 Beauty Buys We Are Obsessing Over This Week

Trine Jensen-Burke

When you write about beauty for a living like I do, a lot of products will land on your desk every week.

And being the total beauty junkie that I am, I still get really excited for the latest miracle creams and sparkly eyeshadows and pretty lip colours – while also having developed a healthy scepticism to products promising results I know they won’t be in a position to deliver.

This week, however, these seven little beauty goodies got my heart fluttering and dreaming of bronzed limbs, tousled hair, summer nights and lazy days on the beach:

1. Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color Oil Infused Shine

I love love love the gorgeous makeup products from Bobbi Brown, and cannot get enough of these new lip colours which do not dry out my lips like so many other lipsticks do.

Filled with natural oils and lovely moisturizing Vitamin C, these will leave your lips super silky, plumped up and with a lovely luminous shine.

2. Thalgo Sun Repair Cream Mask

This skin-saver will most definitively be in my toiletry bag when I head to Palma later this summer. I have long been a fan of the brilliant products from spa brand Thalgo, and this mask did little to curb my obsession.

The mask can be used in two ways, either applied in a fine layer all over your face like a moisturizing cream, or in a thicker layer like a soothing mask. Either way, it will soothe your skin after being exposed to sun, and will also help prolong the glow of you tan. Win-win.

Available from good pharmacies and spas nationwide

3. Slip Slik Pillowcase

Ever since I interviewed a dermatologist a couple of years back who claimed that sleeping with my face down into the pillow would give me wrinkles, I have been trying to train myself to sleep face up.

Now, though, this genius product will let me sleep whatever way I please (and manage, given the fact that I most nights also have two kids in bed with me!).

The luxurious pillowcases from Slip are made using high-quality silk, meaning there will be less friction between face and pillow, which in turn will give me smoother skin (yeah!). As well as that, silk, as opposed to cotton, will not suck moisture from your skin and hair while you are sleeping, ensuring both a dewy complexion and less frizzy locks. I’d say that’s well worth the investment, no?

4. Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Shimmering Body Oil Spray

Every year, the launch of a new Bronze Goddess product now signals to me that summer is really here, and this year, of course, is no different. I am currently counting down days until I can spray this on my arms and legs heading out for dinner after a day in the sun – no perfume needed, as this perfectly summery scent is literally all I want to smell of.

5. Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water

No hand- of beach bag is complete in summer without a bottle of face spritzer, and currently, I am all about this one. This mineral-rich water will strengthen your skin’s moisture barrier function, which is great for avoiding dry skin in the summer.

Just a spritz of this will refresh your skin, keeping it fresh and glowing, and I for one am planning on bringing a bottle in my bag for every car journey and flight this summer.

6. Dr. Hauschka Tinted Day Cream

I hate wearing heavy foundations in the summer but often feel like the tinted moisturizers I have tried don’t really have the coverage I am looking for. Problem solved with this great new product from one of my favourite brands, Dr. Hauschka, which feels really moisturizing on my skin, and gives my face a subtle and natural glow.

Oh, and it is chock-a-block with lovely ingredients like rose wax, beeswax and quince seeds, which all help keep my summer skin nourished and glowy.

7. Sachajuan Ocean Mist

Sachajuan is actually a cult hair salon in Stockholm, but lucky for you and me, the products they sell are also available online.

This beach spray is unlike any other beach sprays I have ever tried (and I have tried a lot), as it does not feel at all greasy, and actually gives my hair lovely volume, as well as that perfect beach-y texture.
