The Autumn boot purchase tends to dominate our sartorial decisions at least until Christmas.
Am I the only person who finds it nigh on impossible to to find the perfect Chelsea boot or to decipher my feelings towards over-the-knees? If you are finding the hunt sole destroying then look no further… we’ve done the leg work for you. And I promise no more boot puns.
Chic riding boots
Add some black tights, a statement jacket and you’ve got a Winter uniform sussed.
Boots, €35 at Zara
Over-the-knees
There’s a good raunch-factor with these tan boots as they provide enough coverage to forego tights. Wear with a big, oversized knit dress and flash a little leg this Winter.
Suede-look boots, €28 at Penneys
Sneaky snake skin
A clever homage to Isabel Marant’s snakeskin boots. LOVE.
Ankle boot, €49.95 at Mango
All that glitters
They’re glittery, girly and totally gorgeous. Black tights, a leather skater skirt and a cute knit will complete this look nicely.
Glitter boots, €50 at Asos
Classic black boots with a textured twist
Seriously good value for these Mango boots. These will hit slightly higher on the calf which can be super flattering. We’re also loving slight flare of this blocky heel.
Black boots, €49.95 at Mango
Update the Chelsea boot
One can suffer Chelsea boot fatigue at this time of year, they’re everywhere after all. We say mix it up with an unusual colour choice to stand out from the crowd.
Teal boots, €11 at Penneys
Another Chelsea boot reboot
We’re digging the undone, kind of battered, rock ‘n’ roll look of these babies.
Snakeskin boots, €50 at Asos
Glossy and gorgeous
The trend for patent booties might seem like a sartorial step too far but we find ourselves coveting this supremely grown-up tortoiseshell pair, work them with all black to keep things unfussy.
Patent booties, €50 at Topshop
She wore blu-ue vel-vet….
Velvet is one of those Winter staples that tends to bring back bad memories of Laura Ashley Christmas dresses in crimson crushed velvet – it’s a rare Irish complexion that can pull off a crimson. We prefer our velvet to channel more of a Vivienne Westwood vibe and this Topshop pair bring a nice touch of 70s glam.
Velvet booties, €52 at Topshop
Tassel takeover:
The 70s fringing that dominated this Summer are carrying forward into Autumn. Avoid unfortunate cowgirl comparisons with this pared back take on the fringed boot from H&M. It’s more Prada than prairie thankfully.
Tasseled knee-high boots, €49.95 at H&M
