If You Love Hygge Cosiness You Need To Get Yourself To This Free Event

Amanda Cassidy

It’s beginning to smell a lot like Christmas –that whiff of winter, a mix between the cold crisp air and burning wood fires. Bliss.

This week’s cold spell has finally inspired me to get my house winter-ready with some soft furnishings, natural wood, candles and cosy throws. The problem is that there is a fine line between creating a cosy atmosphere and turning it into Santa’s grotto.

Luckily for us, BIC Mega Lighters, an essential, reliable tool in creating a magical atmosphere for your family, is presenting an evening dedicated to making your setting of choice heart-warming. ‘The Art of Cosy Living’ is a fireside chat with the best-selling author of ‘the Little Book of Hygge’ Meik Wiking.

For the uninitiated, Hygge is the Danish art of living cosily. It’s all about curling up, lighting candles, eating freshly baked bread, and hugging your loved ones. There is no direct translation, but it is defined as taking pleasure from the presence of gentle, soothing things and making ordinary, everyday things more meaningful, special and beautiful.

Snapchat star, James Kavanagh, will chat with the founder of the Happiness Institute in Copenhagen to openly discuss the Danish philosophy of well-being which seems to have taken over our lives this year.

So Scandophiles can unite next Wednesday 30th November from 6.30pm until 8 pm by the fireside at Whelan’s, Wexford Street in Dublin to chat all things Hygge.

So embrace the cold and the dark and say ‘Ja’ to wood fires, togetherness, and that warm fuzzy feeling.

Tickets are free but limited. Sign up below to guarantee your place.
