The bank holiday style rules according to Amy Huberman

Sophie White

Hitting the road this long weekend?

We all have notions of looking Instagram-perfect during our drama-free, tantrum-free, wine-filled bank holiday getaways, but inevitably we leave the packing until ten past the time we were supposed to get on the road. The kids have gear enough for a two-month trek, including outfits suitable for snow-capped mountains, sun-kissed beaches, and a black tie event. While we have (bizarrely) eight bras but no knickers.

This weekend, however, we are going to pull it off. We’re gonna (for once) look like MILFs (Mums I’d Like to Fash-stalk).

We’ll be channeling stylish Amy Huberman who always manages to look effortlessly cool while also wearing toddler-appropriate attire – a near-impossible achievement, I think we can all agree.

The Trench-Breton combo

Park the parka, bin the bomber, the classic trench coat and Breton top will be seeing us through light showers and sunny spells.

Hats off to her, the girl can accessorise…

The hat can seem like a difficult one to pull off. Amy cleverly opts for an ultra-casual straw trilby thus steering well clear of any novelty connotations while her simple cuff has a pleasingly masculine vibe.

The Leg elongating power couple

Straight-leg jeans and hidden-heel trainers will make your legs look good. It’s science. This tan pair are designed by The Hube herself, and we reckon she knows a thing of two about looking good. The slightly distressed jeans are not spray-on skinny and thus work perfectly for the more chilled off-duty look.

The essential chic cover-up

A bold scarf is the linchpin of any staycation ensemble. If the sun comes out, we can hide under it, if the sun never materialises, we can bundle up and still sit outside with our shades on pretending we are on the Riviera.
