The baby girl was rushed to hospital on Tuesday.
A baby girl who is in critical condition in hospital fell down the stairs, Gardaí were told.
The infant is currently fighting for her life in Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
Gardaí were called to a residence in Louth on September 13th.
Upon arrival, they were told she fell down a flight of stairs.
Gardaí are examining all the circumstances that led to the incident.
The infant sustained injuries to both her head and body.
She is receiving treatment at Temple Street, but her injuries are extreme.
Gardaí are due to interview the baby girl’s family today as the investigation continues.
It is believed they’ve already spoken to some members of the family.
A source told The Irish Mirror, “The injured baby has sustained serious injuries that are unexplained.”
The source said the investigation is in the early stages.
Tusla is also aware of the investigation.
Gardaí issued a statement on Thursday, September 15th.
They confirmed that they are “investigating all the circumstances” at this time.
