A mother and two of her children have been killed in a devastating car crash outside an Australian hospital.
The 20-month old boy, eight-year-old girl and the 35-year-old woman were killed when their car hit a curb and crashed into a power pole outside the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
Victoria police said in a statement on Friday that the “exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined” but that they have ruled out terrorism.
Witnesses say an explosion occurred when the car hit the pole, engulfing it in flames.

Firefighters, police and paramedics rushed to the scene but all three family members tragically died.
7NEWS reports the mother had two other children, who she had dropped to school not long before the crash.
She and her two younger children had been on their way home from a pharmacy at the hospital when the tragedy took place.

Police tracked down the children’s father to his place of work and delivered him the horrific news.
Support services are currently being offered to hospital staff and patients who might have witnessed the distressing scene.
