Two children and an elderly man are reportedly in critical condition.

Two toddlers and an adult are fighting for their lives in hospital following a stabbing in France.

Four children and two adults were taken to hospital earlier today following the attack in Annecy, in the French Alps.

The children are aged between 22 months and 3 years old.

Metro reports that two of the children involved and an elderly man are fighting for their lives in the hospital.

The horrifying incident happened just after 10 am this morning, June 8th.

Witnesses saw a man running towards a woman with a pushchair before the attack.

The man is currently in police custody, but they are not aware of his motives at this time.

Emmanuel Macron issued a statement this afternoon and said: “Attack of absolute cowardice this morning in a park in Annecy. Children and an adult are between life and death.”

He said the nation is in shock following the mass stabbing.

“The Nation is in shock. Our thoughts are with them as well as their families and the emergency services mobilised.”
