A toddler is said to have contracted a serious virus after a stay in a Spanish hotel.

Two-year-old Remy-Lee Corrigan recently returned from a family holiday displaying what is believed to be hand, foot and mouth disease.

The family had to cut their trip abroad short once they realised the young child was ill.

According to Dublin Live it is believed that approximately 50 people have caught a similar ailment since visiting the Club Mac Hotel in Alcudia.

Remy had travelled to Spain with her mother, brother and grandmother, but once it became apparent how ill she was her father flew out and joined them.

The toddler’s father, Gerard Moore, is quoted as having said;

“They borrowed a cot from the hotel for Remy-Lee and we think that’s how she got sick.

She was crying and in awful pain. I had to fly out to be with them.”

Upon return the young child was taken to Tallaght hospital, where she was diagnosed and given treatment for her condition.

The family are angry that there was a known outbreak in the area but that they had not been informed.

The hotel in question have confirmed that over 40 of their guests were diagnosed with hand, foot and mouth disease but that it was now under control.
