Thousands have offered support to his heartbroken family.

Over €20,000 has been raised for the family of Ronan Wilson, a nine-year-old who sadly passed away in a fatal road traffic collision in Co. Donegal.

The collision that killed the little boy from Kildress, Co. Tyrone, who had been visiting Bundoran with his family, occurred at around 9.20 pm on September 23rd.

According to reports, a 23-year-old man appeared before the District Court in Carrick-on-Shannon this morning.

Sergee Kelly from Mullaghmore, Co. Sligo was charged over the hit-and-run that claimed the boy’s life.

Kelly was arrested on Sunday evening and today was charged with three counts in relation to failing to stop, failing to render assistance, and failing to keep a vehicle near the scene of a collision.

Since Ronan’s tragic and untimely death, a fundraiser has been set up on Just Giving to help raise funds to ‘alleviate the financial burden on the Wilson family as they navigate this loss and the associated expenses’.

Seeking to raise £5,000 (€5,751), the fundraiser has already raised over £20,323 (€23,353.53) through crowdfunding donations from the public.

The page reads: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the tragic accident that took the life of a 9-year-old boy Ronan Wilson in our community. Ronan who came from a very well-known respected family in the village of Kildress was a bright, loving soul whose life was cut short.
