1: Electronic ban.
For kids and grown ups, the use of electronics can be pretty detrimental to a good nights sleep. We suggest turning off all computers, iPads and phones early enough on Christmas Eve. It'll give their brains a chance to unwind before Santa comes.
2: Get them outdoors.
Okay, for Irish mums, this point very much depends on the weather. Let's be honest, nothing tires little people out quite like a few hours of fresh air. Let them outside to play, star gaze (and maybe even catch a glimpse of Santa Claus).
3: You can't beat a warm bath.
At the end of the day, a nice hot bath may just be the key to getting your kids to bed early (or on time, at least). Throw in some lavender or epsom salts, and they'll instantly relax.
4: Limit the sugar, ladies.
We know, Christmas is the time of year when everyone goes all out on the treats (ourselves included). However, you know how the kiddos can be when they're full of sugar.... getting them to sleep is near-impossible. For Christmas Eve, try to limit your little one's intake of sugary treats. It'll will make life easier when it is time for bed.
5: If all else fails, use Santa.
If you've tried all of the above, and still no joy - we suggest you use the lovely Santa Claus to your advantage. Remind your little ones that Mr Claus will only come to houses where the children are tucked up in bed... SLEEPING.
Good luck!Explore more on these topics:
